relativley uncomplex cpu and his skills as a software designer grew along with the tech, you have a different problem, cpu's toady are a lot more complex so a lot more studdy is needed to reach a level that will show you to be profficent enough. and dont take this the wrong way. you seem like a nerd when your really need to be a geek. * +

as jay said moden systems are more complex, bill gates has millions working for him, your trying to do it on your own- for which you deserve admiration - but sadly by the time you are done and you have all that money you'll be to old to spend it * +

and just to add to Jay Macks speech, modern OS are written by a team of skilled programmers. Creating an OS like Mac OSX or Windows 7 is impossible to code yourself. I used to code alot but now i'm into web development as my hobby because coding is fkin boring if you working on a project alone due to the time it takes. *
