I had a Compaq CQ42 laptop, after use for 2 months the touch pad ON/OFF switch is found to be problem. When I soft touch twice on the right top of the touch pad, the pad is OFF (LED light ON), but I could not ON it back by touching twice again. I could only ON it back manually by mouse click in the Symnatic software. May I know whether the touch pad switch is faulty? or any way can be recovery * +

hmmm just looked it up and its a bit odd. your rite it is an on off button for that pad... not a bad feature... so have you checked the touchpad driver is fully working? * +

if its a mechanical switch theres always a chance it can develop a fault. what ever you do dont dismantle it, take it to your supplyer and get him to check it out. if its under warenty it shouldnt cost anything to replace or repaire. * +

you could reinstall its driver and see if that sorts it. turn it off uninstall the driver, reboot when it restarts tuen it back on windows should see it as new hardware and reinstall its driver. * +
