Lastnite everytime i kept using either santadvd or convertxtodvd it kept freezing my pc.. I thought i had a virus, after that i formatted the pc and re-installed windows xp, however the problem doesnt seem to have gone! I used convertx and santadvd again and it still freezes, now i dont use them, i ran my utorrent and whilst my files start downloadin, after about 20 min my pc freezes up again! * +

Could be your CPU is heating up. Check the temperatures with Blackbox or whatever. Only when you do CPU intensive tasks it seems to freeze. * +

Check that your CPU is properly fastened and replace your Thermal Grease with a new one. * +

itd s possablity. like i said in yer other post get an app called prime 95 and runn all the tests for 3 cycles. also get speed fan and run that while doing the test., now i know you have older hardware. so your temps may be a little high, but if the cpu is h*tting 65 then you have a problem. the cpu heatsync may need thermal past. its the big cooler block in the middle of the motherboard with a * +

fan on top. if the temps are very high you will need to remove this gently and remove all the paste on both parts of the heatsync and cpu. then re aply a very very thin layer (cheap cpu past costs about 4-6 pounds) if the temps are fine then look at the memory. prime 95 mem test, let it run for 20 mins or so, if theres a problem it will show up fairly quickly. lastly look at ventilation on your * +

pc you will need at least 1 fan at the front suckin in air and 1 at the top back pulling out air (if the psu has a fan then make sure its working and not clogged with dust. * +
