gfx cards still come with a install disk for xp unless its dx11 then its vista and win7 * +

but in answer to your inital quaestion the answer is no. xp will load a gineric driver to enable the screen only, after that you gotta go find the rite driver for your hardware. same with mother board drivers and sound. * +

xp doesn't come with drivers for pretty much anything than itself. extra hardware drivers are always supplied with the hardware or available at manufacturer's site. * +

7 can get some through msupdate and has some generic ones too, but only guaranteed for supported devices and companies that ms has deals with. So even with 7 you still have to get the proper ones which isn't a problem as long as you know the make and model of your hardware. Which you should because it's your computer * +

a big suprise to me is that ati actualy issued m.s with there layest 10.8 drivers b4 guru3d has them. i got it last night via update. * +
