It depends on a lot of factors . I use mine as a game server and depending on how many players there are , it can get pretty slow . * +

easily dont but it does depend on your upstream bit rate. realy you need an adsl line for it to be of much use basicaly your line speed is split evenly in half. on dsl its normaly 10 percent up 90 percent down. and often even more uneaven. virgin do 64KB up to 1MB down. which makes hosting more than 8 player almost impossable on some games others you can get away with 16 players. * +

if your thinking public access for downloads then you realy are best going with a business host, they often have a lot wider bandwaidth which means your downloaders dont get limited to 10kps if more than 3 or for log on at the same time. * +

Depends on what you call a 'server'. There are web servers, ftp servers, game servers with wide variety of system requirements, etc, etc. * +
