For sata hard drives, a winstars communicicator C2. Purchased from maplins. Reads a 250gb destop hd as 112gb. Reads a 160gb laptop hd as 68gb. Both sata, any ideas why? Tried formatting both with same result. Surely it wouldnt be related to hidden partition? Wouldnt the station still read the total capacity? Is the station faulty? * +

Never known a docking station with a fault such as this. Both hardrives had vista premuim but I Have formatted them with same result. * +

could be a read write error, had one of these tings on a laptop once, i fixed the error by deleting out the suplied program and went to the manufauters site and downloaded the latest software and drivers * +

Got it changed over at maplin but still getting the same capacity issue. They didnt believe my problem initially I Had to take my laptop in with the 2 hard drives to prove it. Iam having problems finding the manufacturers website. There doesnt seem to be a site listed anywhere in the packaging and google hasnt yielded any results regarding winstar uk support. * +

Iam assuming its unlikely for 2 docking stations to be faulty especially when I Purchased the original 2 months ago which would mean the 2nd unit would be from a different batch. Maybe its time to contact maplin technical support? The manual states you dont need to install the included software for win 2000 or win xp. But I did install the software on xp anyway. But I Still have the capacity prob. * +

Try deleting the partitions with winxp disk,then reformat wit winvista and instal,that mite help or b4 that try diskmanagement and chk 4 hidden drives. * +
