which password did you use? the 1 you entered, the system default/backdoor pasword or the administrator PW. if you used the backdoor then you need to make a new user password and re log on with that after the dmi update. what bios is it ? award? ibm or what ever? * +

dell make dell and alienware. hcl sell there own beand much the same as acer. so its very unlikley that ist a dell. *
