That totally depends on who made the hdd and quality control . I have one hdd that is over 10 years old , and works like a champ . Chances are that the drive will work longer than the dvr if is made by a good company . * +

I forgot about my old laptop running windows 3.11 . It only has a 50 MB HDD . The BIOS battery is dead and I have to enter all the drive info every time I power it on , so I rarely do unless I get nostalgic for my infocom zork text based games . grin * +
