So I've installed Windows7 on my travelmate 2480 and everything was working (even Aero) but after a restart the laptop was much slower and Aero was gone and when I try and add a screensaver it says the screensaver requires a newer vidoe card or one that supports direct3d..And Aero no longer works... * +

not all hardware can run ultimate versions of win7, use the version that closest matches your system spec. ie, if your putting it on a laptop then use basic. * +

if you have 1-2 gigs of ram use basic, 3-4 then try ultimate, 4+ ultimate for sure, but your problem is unsupported 3d card. as its a vista only laptop acer havent supplyed the gfx drivers. so functions arnt working propperly. * +

so since ultimate is onat the moment is there an easy way to downgrade to basic... And also why was aero working b4 and not anymore? And will acer offer drivers? * +

acer dot offer drivers as its not windows 7 sertifyed. you can try intel and nvidia they may have gineric drivers for your chipset and gfx * +

todays laptop and/or pc configurations will not go under 2gb of ram... which is surelly enough for any win7 version from starter to ultimate... proper gfx drivers and up to date directX should fix the problem.. unless there is some hardware problem... * +
