i can second what the above poster said... and it works just fine.. took about 11GB of my precious space and i still havent tested its restore feature but it works.. atleast the backup part. * +

disk image would be as large as the partition/drive is in total. Though windows copy protection checks integrity of data/disk so be careful. Regular backup for restore isn't as large i guess. * +

2 to 3 disks for win7, your best creating the backup on a fresh install that only has your drivers installed as extra. so do it as soon as you get the pc/lappy if it comes pre installed. * +
