with the exception of CCCP or standalone FFDSHOW and self-compiled MPC-HC from SVN but you are not in-depth user enough for that anyway so just forget it. go with the stupid-friendly all-in-one solutions for now, novices. * +

also 2 out of the 3 have official portable versions and one can also be used portable through an unofficial portableapps-build. GPL'd FOSS. srsbiz. Tons of other perks which you can research on your own. SMPlayer with VLC as fallback are standard-issue players for Linux. Comparable ports and front-ends available for Macs and other operating systems as well. With the exception of MPC-HC. (windows only) *
