yes, i'm gonna do that. i.ll do one wire at a time out the old and into the new. got more than one broken power supply, so gonna practice on that till i can do it with ease, then i.ll move onto doing it on the real thing. dont wanna screw up my power supply plug while i'm trying to fix it, or get stuck half way. lol. thanks for all the info. jay.mack also suggested swopping the plugs. * +

and as usual, it's not as easy as i thought. lol. d*mn pins are not so easy to get out. looks like i'll need to get specific tool to do the job. although i must admit i have not tried small screwdriver *
