im using soundmax on windows midia player and the sound is not as good as the 1 that ther is on my (home) dvd player. is ther a program that could at least mach my (hone) dvd player? * +

If you would like to improve your sound without changing your hardware there is audio configuration interfaces which allow you to calibrate your speaker/sound set up and if your hardware supports it you can do other things such as add environmental effects. I would advise using the software utilities that came with your pc/sound card or you may be able to download a generic one through windows update... * +

If you would just like to configure sound for watching movies on your computer then download Klite codec pack the standard one should be sufficient for configuring similar audio options also there is many video options * +

Uninstall it, restart your pc and the drivers should install automaticly and the settings will reset back to default. You've probably messed up the settings somewhere and as I haven't been watching, that's the best thing to do realy. * +

How good is your audio codec? But you wont need to use it if your amps got a good codec with a digital connection. So sound cards in pcs dont mean alot these days

do i need to buy an expensive soundcard for recording or would codecs do the same job? my darla soundcard doesnt work with seven and i wouldnt want to spend that money again? * +

If you are using a digital connection with a gud home theathre amp the soundcard and the quality of your pcs codec dont matter as the as the work is done by ur home systems codec which in a avg one is 5 times better than ones u will find on any sound card. If you are using a analog connection then the quality of the cards codec is important. So you have to choose analog or digital * +
