Critical vulnerability in windows shell relating to handling of shortcut images. Windows update is required as soon as patches are released and security should be tightened in the meantime. This is also a reminder that a windows system without latest updates (or missing some) is always open for various security problems that do sometimes even require you to be ''stupid on the internet''. Mind you, that most still do. In other news also remember to keep your other software updated, recent browser updates contain fixes for exploits through corrupt image files. * +

also reminder that Windows XP SP2 (and older) and Vista without atleast SP1 are no longer supported by Microsoft. They won't get any more security updates. Minimum required systems to get the updates: XP SP3, Vista SP1, Windows 7 * +
