Ive seen the cpu getn pulled owt with the heatsink alot n it neva eva damages d board or chip. You should remove the board frm d case,clean it,clear cmos n test with a ram/chip/psu dat u know dat is working. N also if u can test ur ram/chip/psu on a workn board. Den u not guesn u knw d exact fault. * +

i guess its a very old board then. as anything from 4 series intel and k7 onwards have the slip and slide lock mounting. if the cpu is connected to the heatsync then give it a light twist to detach it from the paste. if its a ceramic compound then you just have to use the brute force aproach and risk the chip breaking. * +

if you bent pins on both cpus then the chances are you damaged them is what i was getting at. i dont know what you broke coz i cant see for myself, i just have to go on what you post... * +

sorry jay i meant i jus bent the pins on 1 cpu, and yes its and old board, its GA-K8VM800M, my gfs father uses it just for printing stuff of, but it was very slow *
