Also, PhysX doesn't really do a lot, a few bits of paper flying around, some smoke, small amounts of cloth movement. This wouldn't be much of a strain to run on a CPU with optimised code. PhysX will eventually die out if it continues to be nvidia exclusive. * +

And I am a bit of an nvidia fanboy btw. * +

Nvidia bought it and are using it as a marketing tool, of course. its not in their interests to have it run better on any old CPU. Its a bit of a lowblow, but in truth its entirely their prerogative to only allow nvidia users access to viable physx on PC. Eventually it'll hurt the API if open source physics takes hold * +

anyhows all that legacy should be trashed when nvidia rewrite physx and release it. kernel 3.0 should come out and its a total revamp from the ground up, dumping all the previous work from pre 2005. should use vector SSE at least. we will know then wont we? * +

newt your making a valid statment ive never disputed the fact that physx cant be run on a cpu. but the guy that keeps posting the same info dosent get that its just not in nvidias interests atm to improve physx, we know its a marketing gimmic and does use old code, but as spartan points out they wont use that for ever, they will impliment it when its in there interests to do so. * +

after all its a competative market. not a charity. *
