theres a couple of reasons. either the drive is a cheap 1 with limited speed formatted to fat 32. or you are running out of bandwidth on your usb ports. try dissconnecting any none essential hardware. * +

Go to device manager and make sure that the active usb port your are using is 2.0 . It is not uncommon to put 1.0 and 2.0 on motherboards . * +

good call. my old amd had both settings i think my current x58 may have them 2 in bios... cant be sure as i dont look at that section of it much

My mobo has usb 3 nd 2 both. Ports at front panel is connected to usb 2 nd at ports at back of cabinet connected to usb3. * +
