is the monitor on or in standby? have tou tryed the powersaving settings? try booting into safe mode, check the monitor lead is connected propperly. * +

if ram had gon pc wouldnt run... either graphics card has gone or not installed properly or the monitor has gone * +

if the monitor is on but stays in standby it could be the monitor itself has died(lcd backlight problem) diagnosed by trying another monitor, or (transformer problem) diagnosed by hearing a clicking sound comming from the monitor. also if its a transformer problem you may be able to turn the pc off, turn the monitor off, tuen the pc on wait for it to boot into windows then turn the monitor on. * +

if you try another monitor and get the same black screen then it caould be as said above. a dead or malfunctioning gfx card. try booting into safe mode the moniitor should come on if its a driver * +
