i have a AMD i want to know what my processor speed is when my core speed is 799mhz and the multiplier is x8.0 * +

do you mean 799 fsb? If so then speed should be 6.4ghz which is non existent. * +

yep 8x799 is nonexistant. amd'sx2 and x4 usualy start at 200 with a 8-18 multiplyer going in incriments of either .5 or 1.0 * +

most are locked multiplyers meaning if you have a 2.6ghz cpu the multiplyer will have a maximum locked at 13 you can do down but not up, extreme cpus will have extra multiplyers above the stock 1 which can be used to oc. for most people the only rout to oc'n an amd is core clock but due to dye size the amd chips dont oc that well on air with 3.2-3.6 being the maximum depending on inital model. * +

the early dual cores amd athlon x2 (not the cut down phenoms) could manage 200 mhz boost at the high end and about 600 at the low... meaning 3.2ghz on a 3.0 ghz cpu and maybe 2.6ghz on a 2.0ghz cpu. not great and often them boosts came with big bumps in volts to get stable meaning rediculous temps. * +
