It works good . But be sure to read all the instructions . And make sure that you know which registries are safe to delete and which are not . * +

as mok says be sure you know what your doing b4 you use it. as you should with any new software. make sure you back up the registry b4 you delete anything incase you need to restore it after reboot. * +

If you aren't a poor user and don't use cr*p software the registry cleaner should only find genuinely broken and outdated entries. i also urge to NOT delete certain logs such as for antivirus but i recommend selecting everything for the browsers. Also it only shows entries older than 48h if that option is not unchecked. Actually the out of the box CCleaner isn't as good as a manually configured one. * +

You should go through the options once and select what you want to remove and what you want to keep. Deleting window size/location cache is not recommended if you use lots of customized window sizes and positions etc. http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/screenshots * +

Notice that some of the ''features'' in CCleaner are native to windows. It just provides you with a front-end. Examples: sys restore - obvious, uninstall - obvious, autostart - msconfig, clear DNS - cmd.exe ipconfig /flushdns command. The main purpose of it is still SHREDDING (yes, shredding) browser cache and index files + purging temp files that are the largest junk left on machines most of the time. We talking whole GBs at worst. * +

Since i'm blabbing on... shredding index file is not the same as what a 'file shredder' does since the so-called file shredders simply run multi-pass deletion. While shredding an index file means blanking it and replacing it with an 'empty' one, because an index file CANNOT be deleted completely or it will break s**t. Index files can store filenames and complete URLs even if you wipe your browser's caches as much as they allow so they are mostly wanted dead by ppl who want real privacy. *
