Don't know if want... Also i foresee alot of complications in the early days. If it is going to be a repository for all/any windows software it will likely cause bit of a ruckus because the windows software distribution has been 'free' for years. As in developer's freedom to make and distribute whatever they wanted. * +

Or maybe it's going to be a microsoft only system where they'll just sell office in mirco-sized pieces liket they threatened to do some time ago. But if it's going to be partially unmoderated and as free as something like CNET then nothing of real value will be gained and nothing would really change that much for end-users. chin * +

read quote: A new Windows Store is perhaps the most ambitious feature described. Microsoft would offer a store service to third-party software developers. The store would allow easy discoverability of applications both from within Windows and from the Web. The store would be curated, so only applications that reached a certain quality standard would be permitted. The basic model, then, is a cross between Apple's App Store and Valve's Steam. * +

It's like i said just now lol. It will step on the toes of devs. It can be both good and both bad. Depends on how devs react really. If some ragequit over this we might temporarily lose some useful set of software. Most FOSS devs shouldn't have much to worry about because they already adhere to various quality standards due to majority of FOSS also being on linux where package management requires it. * +

For example Microsoft does NOT take kindly to most virtual disc drive software such as Virtual Daemon Tools. beat * +
