So i got this external hard drive today and i'm yet to plug it in and use it. Just wanted to know if therez any precautions i need to take or if there is anything i need to know about this hard drive. I'm using windows 7 and this is the first time i've gotten an external hard drive. I think the model is ST30500. Anything to look out for and was it a good buy? * +

If your place is vulnerable to static electricity during the dry season , then buy some ground straps . Remember , USB is not lightning fast . So any back ups may take a while . * +

Also , if you plan on traveling with that drive download a file encryption program like truecrypt . That way your info does not become everybody elses if you loose it or it gets stolen . * +
