They are protected mp3's then . They had a licence that only worked with a certain WGA code . * +

I had the same problem, but I could play them using VLC media player. It will play most file types I think * +

Are they actually .mp3 tracks? Might be something to do with the codec used to create them and/or settings. * +

mp3 is standardized. even the cr*ppy WMP should be able to play them out of the box. you should analyze the codecs used. perhaps they are mp3pro or something else? *
