Had a 500gb sata hdd in my ps3 before it broke have brought a new1 and want all my music,photos,vids that id stored on the hdd, so, brought a usb dock 4the hdd but when link it to laptop it wont open only wants to format, ne1 knw a way round this? * +

nope there isnt . you have lost everything on the drive . you cant recover anything . all you can do is put it back in the ps3 to see if it works still . then back up . windows doesnt recognize the ps3 format ,so thinks the disk is new and will format before you can do anything , theres no way round it im afraid * +

i had the same prob when my launch day ps3 died , i got a new one but couldnt use the drive with all my 3 years worth of game saves . p*ssed me off so much i sold it and bought an xbox . * +

you could try and fix the ps3 , theres loadsa guides on the net , sometimes it works for a few days . long enough to make a back up . its worth a try * +

Is there a PS3 emulator for a pc . If there is that might help . But i think you would need a drive to drive copier . * +

nope a ps3 emulator is a long way off . actually doubt it could be done , emulating the cell cpu would be difficult to say the least *
