its software related as i had xp with the same monitor with same setup and it wasnt greyed out.i think it has something to do with admin rights.when i had xp sp3 it came preinstalled with extended control panel and i had a win2k user account snap in next to original one which gave me options to override standard user s permissions,is there anything like that for 7? * +

nope admin comes with the highest permission sets. *
