Ive just been given one of these brand new (unused) but without any box,instructions etc. I know that they (the garmin maps) can be updated once for free via the garmin site when new, but do i need the original box, instructions, certain code etc to do this? Cheers 4 any sound advice given. * +

Thnx 4 the accusations guys but it was my cousins who only used it once b4 he was posted to Afghanistan last year an sadly lost his life out there afta bein there juz 3months on his 1st tour! His mum (my aunty) got it out of his car recently an giv it 2 me the otha day but doesnt know wot happened 2 the box. Anyway 4get it an Carta i thought u had more fkn sense around ere!! * +

Cant really remember cos was a while ago, plus it was a tomtom, but when you connected it thru my tomtom or whatever you registered it and got a years free updates...would think garmin would be similar...perhaps try cars forum * +

Well i said unused as it mite aswell be fkin unused as he used it in the car once before leaving, so sorry for saying it was unused, lock me up an throw away the key, at the end of the day it has not been connected to a PC or Laptop so has not been updated or registered, so instead of filling you in with all the fkin details i just shortened the message for a quick answer back u fkin Geeks!! * +
