i am planning to buy laptop..mid range with decent gaming performnace. dell studio 15 and dell inspiron are the two laptops that look promising. but m very confused regarding the gfx . one of them is having one gb ati mobility radeon HD 5470 1GB and another is having ati mobility radeon HD 4570 512MB. i don't hv any idea bout laptop gfx. so plzz suggest me which one shld i go for. a * +

5470 is faster, but its also so slow it wont run a lot of modern games at all well. You want a gaming laptop, then look well above the midrange pricepoint towards 1000 pounds. Most anything else will offer prety mediocre performance, especially at the typical screen resolution many laptops offer * +

thanx spartan. m in safe hands now. ..screen resolution is not a prob.with dell i hv an option to choose 1080p 1900x1020 hi def. also..how's alienware M11X...wid NVIDIA GeForce GT 335M. is this card any better than the other ones that i hv mentioned * +

Now down the right hand side is graphics in laptops from the fastest at the top to the slowest at the bottom. Anything in class 1 is gonna give reasonable performance. The top half of class 2 will give you good performance for modest resolutions. anything below say GT220 is going to start to choke quite a lot and borderline for modern games * +

If you pick something with a high resolution, and wanna play that resolution, you are gonna want something in class 1 and the higher up there the better, or prepare to really sacrifice the settings in modern stuff. Just bear that in mind. * +
