Play games = get a desktop, unless you want to pay double the price for a laptop with the same performance. * +

I would say laptop only if you need the mobillity of moving your PC around. * +

im with newt. if you need mobility then a lappy, if not then a desktop, if you choose desktop then look to spend 250-300gbp all on a self build, for a basic motherboard with onboard gfx, core2duo with 2 gig ram and a 500 gig hdd, basic case and low end 350-450watt powersupply 17-19 inch monitor.. add 100gbp for a half decent gfx card if you want to play games2, if money is no option then an i5/i7 * +

setup i5 500-700. i7 700-what ever your budget can spare. laptop wise you can get a decent enough core 2duo based 1 for 350gbp but it will have limits on speed battery life and gfx performance. the more you spend the more you get. * +
