sounds like your usb slots 2.0 slots are not un use or the cable your using is low speed. Make sure you plug it into port not a hub. A hub shares everything that's normally the front ones. The ones at the back normally the single ports. If not working still. Go to device manager and uninstall your usb drivers and reboot. Remember to have auto log on enabled or password removed. When it rebooted you won't have any control for a min or so don't worry the usb drivers are just busy reinstalling i * +

Ya can get a external Hd if your laptop has those external hd port . You cant add internal hd. As you are saying its running win95 it wont support external hd. Get xp. * +

I got same problem wit toshiba tb,i think its a problem with the casing,i tried everything even reloadin windows.it works only on some pc's.and used to work before on all.i just going to replace the casing,some those sata to usb boards s**ty *
