I m planning to buy and 40gb extra for my pc which has 320gb nd 250gb already. All I want to do is install o's on 40gb and rest my files on other. So can you guys suggest me which brand model hd should I go. Budget aint problem. But powersupply is problem. Other hd will already eat lots of power. So want to power efficient options . Wont go for segate. * +

Not old one not for sure those power eaters . If I go for ssd which one should I get. Electricity supply at my place is very unstable so I need a power efficient one . I had once corrupted one of my hd due to irregular power supply but got replacement. * +

40GB desktop drives are long obsolete. Hard drives dont get cheaper and cheaper as such, they just get bigger for the same price. SSD's are expensive. you say budget isnt a problem, but a good one is probably gonna be a lot more than you think... * +

got 2 x 1tb samsung spinpoint f3's 60 quid each they use about 25 watts, sata2 40 gig is a waste of money, it would be full inside a week 1s you start installing apps and tools, some do actualy need to be on the same drive as the o.s so will fill it up quickly. get a cheap tb drive and partition it of into 250 gig x2 and 1x 500, 1x250 for your o.s and os dependant apps. the other 250 for none * +

if your power supply is irregular then get a 1000w ups. this will give you about 3 minutes of power to enable you to shut down yer pc safely if the power goes out. you cant use it to run the pc but it will be able to shut down without you corrupting data, which is a better option than a cr*ppy 40 gig drive which is just as likley to cr*p out if the power goes off. * +
