The most powerful programming language is the CPU s own machine language, after that comes Assembly languages like(X86 assemblers eg MASM, NASM,FASM, TASM brainFuk, ARM, AVR PIC Assemblers , then middle-level languages like C/C++, pascal, delphi pascal, Algol, BCPL Then high- level languages like Java, C sharp, Python, perl, ruby, shell, html, php then visual basic is the looser. * +

Csharp is realy good, and if u know VB .NET good, it will be easy to learn Csharp, they r simmilar, and you should stay at VB .NET. Lots of people thinks it succks, cuz of the previous versions(VB5, VB6), But VB .NET is an OOP, and good almost as any other MS Visual OOP Lang. I dont know 4 what do u need programming skills, but Csharp Is pretty good 4 evrything, and VB .NET respectively. * +

There is another thing, there r 2 general types of progm. langs, OOP(C++,C,Java etc.) and functional(Pyton, Pearl, Ruby, Fsharp), i dont know what r the 2nd ones good 4, but i hav tryd 2 learn Fsharp, and i got realy confused. It uses totaly diferent logic from OOP. The choice is yours, but i recommand you to learn one OOP progming lang(C), one design scripting lang(XML, HTML, JavaScript), and S * +

if you want to be on the safe side learn an open source language.a real programmer does not use VB or .NET. MIT EECS curricula does not use any microsoft language. they use python, C++,java, matlabs. you think they are stupid to avoid microsoft languages? MIT has for many years been voted the best when it comes to computer science and electronic engineering.Think about it. * +

Thanks 4 advice, ashken. Few days ago I started to learn Cpp, and I confirm its the best, and Csharp is COPY of Java, and .NET library is the COPY of open source, but MS languages are easier to learn, and good to introduce begginers (like myself) in concepts of programming. I think that the only microsoft's original product is MS DOS. * +
