a 64Bit machine (CPU) has 64bit wide Addressing Registers and Integer. Not all software can use this 64bit addressing feature. Windows 7 x64 takes advantage of these buses but is also 32bit compatible. Thats the difference is the way the data addressing takes place. You can use 4GiG or more memory with a 64bit OS actually using all unlike a 32bit which uses 3GiG because of the width of the CPU... * +

64 bit bus. 64bit is faster than 32bit but in all cases. You need a proper 64bit machine to take advantage of x64. It uses more resources than 32bit so make sure you have enough memory, atleast 3GiG and a fast 64bit CPU. *
