Iv took it out with the light still on and the data on the stick was corrupted if you look in device manager then usb it says that there is a problem i think the error code is 47 * +

you have removed it while data was being written to it. thats why you use the eject function. * +

Iv done it that way as well but its the same the light stays on and if i take it out it corrupts it my mates is the same on his as well on his laptop for sum reason there is a problem with usb 2 devices we both got vista home premeum and they are the same problem usb1 devices are fine * +

No Jay.mack I meant that I use EjectUSB portable installed in my flash drive. Executed via my apps menu on the drive. * +

Usualy checks and fixes any problems when you plug it back in tho. Just a thaught, what specs is your pc and is it using any usb device as virtual ram? If it's reading everything slow, mite need a clean up and de frag? If everythings going slow, it will read and write slow and with errors. Have a go with ccleaner and auslogic defragmenter, both free and auslogic has a defrag and optimise option. *
