me too on xp i used both. the kl codec came with media player classic and cud show some files properly that vlc cudnt * +

klite codec pack can associate with wmp,it makes wmp looks powerful. and will download new codecs automaticaly if any video file cannot play on mpc * +

if use both use klite installer at codecguide.com and portable vlc at portableapps.com to prevent some conflicts on registry * +

I use Klite Mega 5.83 on win7. I haven't came across any incompatible file. I always used only Media Player. No 3rd party players. * +
