pc hangs on normal shutdown. Takes ages. Have run sfc purgecache and scannow. Event viewer shows repeat red x of DCOM server failed to respond within. timeout. it shuts down very slightly faster via taskmanager . What else can i do. Its since i put old disk image on sata disk * +

Make sure your PC has the minimum amount of software thats running during idle because when shutting down it must shut down and save and those programs settings. Disable software you don't need by running msconfig in the run box. Defrag your computer and free some space too. * +

have you checked the settings to make sure its not wiping the page file at shut down? and no other events are showing up at close down? have you checked registry integrity? what image did you put on the sata?... * +
