am buying a notebook am confused why should i buy a core i7 which is only 1.6 ghz. wats the techology behind it why ppl say its better than core 2 quad or a core 2 duo at 2.6 * +

its the fastest out there core i7. Its performance per clock. The high GHZ wars has long past. Just get the I7 let intel worry about the technology * +

The difference is that i7 has a higher amount of Cache and has high L3 cache also the architecture is different that means the design is different. It's superior to any other Intel Dual Core instead of i3 and i5 which have 35nm fabrication. The i7 1.6GHZ is faster than any other Intel CPU that you'll get in a laptop and should run cooler. * +

depends on your budget!. if you can afford the eqivilant of 1000+gbp then get the i7. if not then the intel will do the job well enough for a few years yet. * +

Its turboboost,power is used when needed,otherwise it clocks low to save power. Don't be so confused,core i7 is the best and hence the most expensive,if affordable buy it else go for i5,don't go for c2d * +
