dude, single partition is a bad idea. it was probably perfect already. also max amount of partitions per drive is 4 logical but you can do 3 logical 1 extended (linux and extra partitions for it go nicely in the extended) Windows system partition should be kept small and only as much as it will EVER need. like XP partition doesn't need to be more than 20GB. you data partitions you can dedice yourself. * +

nerd example: dev/sda1 WinXP 20GB, dev/sda2 Data 80GB, dev/sda5 debian gnu+linux 16GB dev/sda6 linux-swap 1GB dev/sda7 linux-data 40GB = one 160GB drive (notice that extended starts from 5 because the logical ones are reserved for 1-4) * +

thumb_up example 2 (no linux): dev/sda1 WinXP 20GB, dev/sda2 Data 80GB, dev/sda3 Data2 60GB = one 160GB drive Oh, the reason why the system partition should be small is that the core system files and pagefile etc. don't end up halfway across the drive when they get fragmented. This is better for your drive/system health. Also note that extended partitions are not bootable directly but a Linux distro will replace your default bootloader with GRUB or something similar. * +

online example 3 (encore): dev/sda1 WinXP 20GB, dev/sda2 Win7 40GB, dev/sda3 Data1 50GB, dev/sda4 Data2 50GB = one 160GB drive multi-boot maximum partition usage (cannot create more) Note that you may need to read a guide for how create multi-boot like this especially the order of installing the windows systems. (Win7 does not allow downgrade to XP etc.) * +
