hello smart people. i'm having problems with installing windows 7. it takes a very long time to install. like 2 to 3hrs and thats via usb. now i finally realized that i can boot from my dvd rom. you can imagine how much i kicked myself for not realizing that changing my bios setting from raid to ide will cause my bootable dvd.s to boot. now my dilemna is even thru 7 dvd the install takes forever * +

Like i do before i request help i googled my abnormal problem and apparently some people have had the same problem. solution is to disable floppy drive. i did and the install is yet to complete. actually i have tried like 3 times using dvd to install but to no avail. the install goes till the installn windows stage and quits on me after hours waiting.a restart doesnt help either nor does a repair. * +

i did notice something though. the drive is partition into 2 however the c drive is not win7 and drive e win7. i suspect it should be the other way round. what i need to know is how to go about it. and if i install via usb when exactly do i remove the usb to stop it from booting and reinstalling win7 all over again. or should i leave da usb connected change boot to hdd? don't remembr hw i did it * +

just copy the cd to a folder on the partition and press enter on setup. it will install from hdd 15 min quick quick * +

you need to edit your bootlader and tell it where the partition is on what drive. win 7 use a diffrent one from vista so heres what i will do. copy disk to one partition. then run setup and install it on other partition from hdd * +

thats a problem leblur as i have tried installing win7 from xp but it doesn't install. gives me an error about PE environment. any other ideas? * +

Technically its not a very good idea to install an os from the same drive as the destination.usb install is the fastest you can get maybe you should try to get another pen drive with higher i/o speed. * +

Another thing is maybe your copy of win7 setup is corrupt or the dvd scratched or the lens weak. * +
