editor knows what his talking about. Arrays, Functions, etc are ALL the basics. Once you learn those it becomes very flexible after practice. Write programs ALOT. You can also write programs which demonstrate the language to help yourself. Do a couple of those. Stuff like pointers is complex but IMPORTANT so don't leave out anything. I'll some s**t to you. * +

Java is simpler than c. It doesn't require pointer arithmetic plus it has an automatic garbage collector. *
