I use bittorrent but some people say the gui is the same but i don't know so i can't help you. Check your preferences or options and look for upload * +

if you decide not to seed back your download speed will drop to near zero, you have to share back even if its just a little, it wont actauly harm your maximum speed as your upload speed is on a different frequencey, so your max download 200kbps your upload should be 1/8th that and as i said this wont affect your down speed at all. * +
