its ok on a tight budget, great ig you have a board that fully supports it already, but if your gona buy a new board you may as well get an intel chip, it may be slower on the ghz but will be just as fast on processing. (in the same price bracket that is) * +

If you are lucky you can unleash it, if you have a motherboard that supports it.. with that unleashing mode you can reactivate 1 or 2 dormant cores that amd may have disabled, so you'll have a triple or quadcore for the price of a dual * +

Yeah. Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 6mb L2 at 3.16 (AMD is 1mb L2 and 6mb L3 at 3.2GHZ) and the Intel is still faster. Overclock the Intel and you'll have even more power. Rather buy a new board and change to Intel. Once you go Intel you'll never go back. * +

well if your board fully supports it then why not. jump in and you will be happy with the results, going from a dual to a tri or a quad will make a difference in games. like gta4 and nattlefield badcompany 2 * +

ah i just re-read yer original post. no m8 its not that good an upgrade for the money. if you can get a quad. as the p..II x2 is just a tiny bit better not even what i would class as an upgrade, more of a slightly better swap. * +
