does anyone have experience with oc'ing a phenom II 955 be? can't get it stable past 3.7 ghz. any tips? motherboard is asus m4a785D-m pro. 4x 1gb ddr2 800 ram in there as well. thx in advance! * +

probably because thats as far as it can go. you arent likely to eek out much more than that and have it stable....... * +

3.7 is pretty dam good for that chip. im suprised you got it that far. * +

3.8 should be relatively easy on those chips. Must be having a weaker sample. was hoping to reach 4 ghz with it... but i read some other forums and the 955 Black Editions's with C2 stepping aren't likely to reach that speed.. only the newer C3's do... Darn... and to say i specially bought a Coolermaster V8 to keep this baby cool.. guess it's a bit overkill now :D * +

Should have spend a bit more on the mainboard and buy me an i7 920 then.. Ah well to late now.. still a nice little cpu tho.. definitly a huge step forward from my old Athlon x2 4400+.. Jay will know too, since i know he had a 4600 or sumthing.. Used to push 2.75 ghz out of the old veteran too :D * +

i had 2 x2 athlons the 4600 and the 6000 i got 3.3 an the althon the 4600 wouldnt hold any stable overclock althout i did get it up to 2.86 (which showed me the cpu was bottleknecking my old 88gt so i got the 6000 which is a very good ballance. * +

3.3 on a 6000? must have been a little hothead then... if i can remember those where still 90 nm and a tdp of 125w.. Main reason why i didn't upgrade to one of them in that time * +
