i recently installed a demo version of ubuntu (to see what all the fuss was about) on a diff partition(C:), my WinXP SP3 is in D:. i uninstalled ubuntu and tried to remove it from boot only to find it in the c-drive. *

i guess what i want 2 know is it safe to copy these files(incl. NTDETECT,ntldr etc) back to the d-drive *

You must install the windows bootloader. Pop in the xp cd, launch the recovery console, type help and search for a command with word MBR in it. That will replace grub bootloader with windows bootloader... *

tried fixmbr but it didnt work. thanks anyway. i guess i'll leave it as it is. its not causing me any problems *
