you cant delete windows while yer logged on. you have to do it via the boot disk. eather that or a virus has deleted your mft. * +

i no thats why am confused :s i dont use the pc for surfin net or downloading so i dunno where the virus come from altho the pc is on my network. hdd mite be a bit shoddy but how wud i lose over 4gig? its a wd400 40gig * +

well it wouldnt just dissapear as i have said , eather sum1 deleted it on purpose or a virus has eather deleted or corrupted the mft, have you checked the disk for errors? if you have it on a network its possable to boot both pcs and delted the none primary pc's data but that would mean the secondary would still have some basic files there, enough to let windows still function till you turned it * +

if it was completley blank then yeah eather a virus or corruption is probably the cause, if theres a couple of files left then look to sum1 deliberatly trying to delete the files. * +
