My friend is doing an insurance claim for a laptop that was stollen from his car the thing is he doesnt have the slip cause it was purchased 2 years ago. They wont payout till he shows proof of ownership. It was running vista and is registered to his name can this help in any way as proof of ownership? * +

if he baught it on a credit card he can get in touch with the shop that sold him it and ask for a copy of the reciept. * +

in your case your only hope is a picture of the laptop or the box / manuals for it . you need some proof of ownership * +

also you should report the break in to the police . here in the uk the insurance companys ask for a crime number . tbh leaving a laptop or anything of value in a car is just stupid . its bound to get nicked * +

They wont except a pic or manuals etc they just cons and don't want to payout even though you've been paying insurance for years. Yeah it was reported to the police and we also get a case number. I was just wondering if when you activate your os with ms they also register it with your machines serial no. So maybe that would help him. * +

You will need a receipt. They can't just give out money to people who claim they had a laptop, people lie and I'm sure a lot of people would lie about the price they paid for it. * +
