I have a number of .avi movies which have been ripped to 700mb and are of good quality. I've recently decided to start ripping my own movies so I've done a few DivX rips using ImTOO DVD Ripper Platinum 5. The problem is that the only time the DivX's come close to the quality of the movies that i have is when the file size is about 1.4gb. So what i need is correct conversion settings, i.e. fps, video size, audio sample rate, etc. Can anyone recommend conversion settings that will produce a goo * +

use mp4 format. divx is big but its quality versus size. i normaly use dvd shrink * +

use mp 4 for video and mpeg2 audio set at 96kb it will normaly bring the movie down from 1.3 to about 700mb * +

i prefer total video converter as it gives a lot of options on which format to ripp to, lots of screen size options and audio options. but it can be a pain to setup and get right, but 1s done it will work brilliantly, only problem its not free. * +
