Hi, I remember reading here a while back someone asking for advice on TB Hard drives. Jay Mack said something about a new range of hard disk that doesn't have as much problems with corrupt data or something. I would appreciate it if you could enlighten me on what to watch out for when buying a big hard disk.. Since I am of the opinion that it is hard and tiresome trying to get a merchant to * +

wot you should lookout 4. if its not wrapped in its silver plastic cover dont take it. I fyou buy it and when you plug it into pc and it says anything else than raw take it back * +

what to look out for on tb drives? well good brand names go along way. samsung have earned there reputation, westerdigital are also good. maxtor are so so, hitachi i wouldnt use as a door stop. look for frives with 2 platters rather than 3 as there quieter have less moving parts so are less likley to get damaged, i recomend the samsung spinpoint f3 drives as they are some of the fastes drives * +

available at 7200 rpm the can even mach and beat some 10000 rpm drives. and for 55 pounds there hard to beat on price 2, way cheaper than buying the same capasity in dvd rw's and more reliable to boot. * +

Seagate all the way 5 year warranty and just take off the little jumper so the drive runs at max data transfer. * +

seagate has a terrable reputation, there baracuda drives fail faster than maxtor there only saving grace is there warenty, but it does mean you gota take another seagate drive which is likley to fail inside the next 5 years theres no warenty with the replacment eather. * +
