NVIDIA announced its next-generation graphics-card architecture at the GPU Technology. Fermi packs in 512 CUDA processing cores arranged in 16 banks of streaming multiprocessors (SPs) - the green rectangles - that each hold 32 execution cores. As a comparison, GeForce GTX 285's SP count is 240. * +

Pure processing grunt is allied to a 384-bit memory interface - six 64-bit-wide channels - that connects to GDDR5 memory. The chip is fabricated on TSMC's 40nm process and packs in around 3bn transistors. That was copied from a site if you want to read more - http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=20518 * +

ooooolld news. I can tell u now the die is enormous, which means expensive. There are no derivative parts til long after. Which means ati will rule the midrange. And finally what ati does in hardware nvidia are gonna run in software on the shaders which is basically gonna be a fail for dx11 performance * +

earliest date for this chip is probably february, but even march isnt unrealistic. ATI have played their cards NOW, but you can be pretty sure they will be wokring on something and have had six months to launch something close to GT300 to pile on the pain. 5870 with maybe 950mhz core and faster memory would pile the pressure on. aka 5890 possibly * +
