has arrived, today the interweb is flooded with benchmarks! and its all bad news for AMD, good news for consumers. the base model, i5 750 beats out the phenom 2 BE 965 most of the time, and theres little room left for the AMd processor to overclock. really AMD are screwed royally yet again except at ultra low budget. the i7 860 trades blows with the i7 920, its pretty close. they are similar money * +

but the 860's platform is obviously cheaper. the 920 has shown however that the extra triple channel bandwidth can help, in some odd games and apps. needless to say those you paid up for the 920 have no real fear anymore, 860 isnt THAT much cheaper, and its not really any faster. finally the i7 870 is of course a little faster than the 920, but costs over 500 dollars- twice as much. * +

in short people welcome to the mainstream CPU leader until AMD bring out a new architecture. the 750 paired with a cheap P55 board will be the option of many- that is the ticket to a overclocking beast and cheap uber performance the 750 has been shown to go past 4ghz- literally there is no hope for any AMD processor currently except to cut prices * +

core i5 750 2.66ghz costs about 150 pounds, paired with a 90 quid board demolishes everything up to and including the 3.4ghz 965 BE. in short the entire AMD range cannot sell for more than about 140 pounds or no one would buy it * +

really i dont think thats a bad thing- you soon will be able to buy a very powerful quad core processor for less than 150 pounds. quad core has h*t the mainstream. think of the core 2 parts too, their value will be reduced, especially when i3 pops up a little later. an abundance of CPU power is now gonna be in reach of most people. another market shift * +
