For the mics you need to do research. As you get dif mics 4 diffrent recording angles. Then you need a thudder. To take thud sound away. Place stalking over a coathanger and place it infront of the mic. Then your wires keep it away from the electrical ones. If they have to cross let them cross at 90 degree angle. * +

You get mics that pick up the sound from its front and you get ones that pick up sounds coming from the sides. First one is good for voice 2nd one for instruments. The most expensive part is the sound proofing. Its better building a small room than using a room in your home. Its cheaper aswell. No cracks no hollow walls. Browse for sound resistant materials and what is the best for your budget. Eggboxes and matresses wil give xtra proofing if you use cheap materials. * +

all of this info is extremely helpful, but not needed unless you are making very high quality music for albums ets. my mates just use a cheap mic with a stocking 'pop filter' and sony acid * +
